Designed by Olle Enderlein of Sweden, she was (apart from the trim tab on the keel) a typical cruiser-racer of her era, with hull lines similar to other modern classics such as the Contessas, Elizabethans and Hustlers.
They are a capable seaworthy cruiser and are also often used in club racing; over 1300 were built and they continue to be popular today.
Recently completed a thoroughly enjoyable cruise around Ireland.
This boat also has numerous wins and top three finishes in the HYC autumn league.
The boat has a full brand new Z-Spars mast professionally fitted by Irish Masts and Rigging in May 2010.
This includes :
All new running rigging with new Dyneema halyards
Steaming light
Top tricolour light
Anchor light
Windex with built in VHF aerial.
Fully reconditioned Yanmar YSE12 engine professionally rebuilt by Yanmar specialists CHMarine in Cornwall, UK , in April 2010.
In perfect condition, starts first turn every time. Miser on fuel.
Interior retrim and full overhaul in the winter of 2009/2010.

roof linings.
wall timber.
Full new suite of internal cushions.
Full new suite of leatherette removable external cushions.
all internal surfaces redone.

Galway Hooker Widgeon (Gleoiteog class) - 28'6" length overall on deck (i.e. excluding bowsprit); 7 6 beam, 3 9draft, gaff-rigged; larch planks on oak frames; had a major rebuild in 2003 - new stem, new sternpost, new deadwoods, new garboards, new keel, some frames, some new planking, new coach roof (marine ply) and cabin sides (hardwood), new cockpit (hardwood), new weatherboards, new engine (Yanmar 18 hp)- less than 250 hours. Invoices and receipts available for rebuild carried out.
Two mainsails (one new 2009), three staysails, three jibs (one new 2009). Full marine survey carried out in March 2010 available for inspection. All reasonable offers considered. |

For sale
* 4m Valiant RIB (DR400 model) with red sponsons & a white hull. The RIB is approx 6 years old and is in excellent condition. The sponsons are completely air tight with no fading, leaks or patches. The sponsons also have heavy duty hand rails attached. There is a single bow locker and bow cleat. Two wooden paddles and a sponson inflation hose accompany the boat.
* 40 HP 2-Stroke Mariner/Mercury Engine approx 10 years old with kill cord. The engine is in very good condition and starts first time. There are a few scrapes on the skeg but these are only superficial and dont hinder the performance of the engine. The prop is in good condition with slight scuffing. The gearbox oil was changed 3 months ago along with the flywheel starter assembly and the swivel tube assembly. The engine has been washed out with freshwater after every use in saltwater.
* 22 litre fuel tank with correct Mariner/Mercury fitting. The lucky buyer gets a full tank of fuel (Petrol/2 Stroke Mix).
* SBS Bunked Unbraked Trailer with a new roller, hand winch and jockey wheel in full working order. Two ratchet straps come with the trailer along with a light board and a spare light board (6m cable).
* This RIB has been used at sea and on freshwater and performs very well. It would make an ideal entry level RIB or as a fast inshore rescue craft/tender.
